Muriel line of Bowties and Kente by Kirton ties were born out of a Brooklyn brownstone sewing class in late 60's. MC started learning the business as a boy, and in 2012 MC branched out on his own, after running several other business. This Fashion textiles business has the focus on the fashion conscious male with emphasis today's styles. MC took all that his mother gave, the essence of a Bajan experience, dedication, loyality and innovation.

Most Kente comes from West Africa. There are three types of fabric. First from Ghana, Nigeria, handwoven cloth Ashoke' cloth, Secondly is Kente cloth, a Dyed cloth from the Ashanti region and lastly Mud cloth from Mali area, made from the 'Nigallama tree
Each fabric has a different weight, woven cloth Ashoke' little heavy, Kente cloth lighter and Mud cloth much heavier used for coats and vests.
